It’s getting late and I’m tired and looking forward to bed. But I just had to post this photo that I took tonight.
April 10, 2009: Cody Johnson (17) of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, is congratulated by Robert Marcial and Stephen Shults after hitting the game-winning home run in the seventh inning of a game against the WIlmington Blue Rocks at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Coastal Field is a place where light goes to die, especially around home plate. Normally only the first couple of innings are decent for photography because of the shadows at home, but late in game if you try some different things you might get lucky, as I did tonight.
The good thing about the field is that you can head up to the upper stands late in the game, sit down, watch the game, not worry about the net getting in the way, and if a player looks up toward the light you can get a good image. I was up in the stands, waiting for something to happen, when Cody Johnson homered to put the Pelicans ahead for good. He looked up, got pumped up, and I clicked.
