This should be a baseball card, but won’t be
I’m posting this picture here just because I like it. You probably won’t see it anywhere else.
It’s not the sort of photo that winds up on a baseball card — but it should. It’s not the kind of photo that Baseball America likes to use — but they should.
If I carry the banner of any particular campaign, it’s the banner of showing more faces. When I was a kid I always liked the baseball cards that showed the faces of the players, and cards of that period were better at doing that. Today, not so much.
But the beauty of a blog is that I get to choose. And this photo of catcher Ryan Lavarnway of the Greenville Drive is my pick. Pretend its a baseball card. Just for me.
