There is only one member of the 2013 Greenville Drive represented in the 2013 Topps Heritage Minor League card set, released yesterday. Thank goodness at least they used my photo . . .

I first photographed him at Spring Training in 2009 (above), when he looked to be about 16 years old. Actually, I think he was 17 at the time.

The Chicago Cubs have recalled former Greenville Braves catcher J.C. Boscan from Triple-A Iowa as a backup catcher.
I can’t think of anybody I’d rather see make the majors and stay there than J.C. He has paid plenty of dues. I’ve photographed him with the Greenville Braves, Mississippi Braves and Atlanta, and he’s had just a cup of coffee in the big leagues so far in his career.

I’m delighted to see that the Yanks have called up former Charleston catcher J.R. Murphy as part of the September call ups.
He remembered me from one season to the next — but that’s not the reason I’m happy. He’s a terrific guy, a good prospect and I wish him all the best.
